Lawrence Risk-Based Air Screening

Printer-friendly version

The project proposed to use air toxics emissions data to input into an air dispersion model in order to compute the hazardous air pollutants ambient air concentrations for the area studied. The results would have been used to determine the chemicals and sources that are primarily contributing the most to human health risk. Mapping of the air toxics sources from the Toxic Release inventory and National Air Toxics Assessment of 1999 was done for the Lawrence, MA area. The community used the map as well as focus groups to develop an action plan to address the pollution sources and chemicals and implement risk reduction programs.
