DeKalb County Board of Health's mission is to promote and protech health and provide quality preventive and primary care. DeKalb County citizens are concerned about many environmental issues in their neighborhoods and also the potential impacts these issues may have on their community. DeKalb County is part of the metropolitan Atlanta region and shares many of its environmental issues with neighboring counties. On-going community environmental concerns include: radon exposure, solid waste management and recycling, landfill management, chemical spills, hazardous waste management, lead exposure, indoor and outdoor air quality, water quality, pesticide use and the built environment. The environemntal issues can have numerous negative economic, health, and social impacts.
