Socio-economic Aspects of Periodic Vehicle Inspection Programs

Paper presented at the North American Conference on Motor Vehicle Emission Control, November 14-16, 1973, held at Albquerque, NM. This paper presents information useful in deciding whether or not to include inspection in a state implementaton plan by comparing the costs and emssion reductions expected from such inspections with those of other emission reduction alternatives. The comparisons are made specific to the South Coast Air Basin (Los Angeles) in California in order to make them more meaningful.
