At 0800 hrs OSC Sherrin was dispatched to a 4,000 gallon ferric chloride spill at the Water Solutions facility in Taunton, MA. MassDEP's Jamie Gonzales is currently at the facility. This facility is a septic sewage pre-treatment facility and is operated by Earth Tech. This facility pre treats septic sewage. The ferric chloride is used to remove solids from water.

The facility's project manager (Dave Bernier) stated that the spill started by a broken valve, Saturday 12/22/07, but was not noticed by the employees until 0630 on 12/24/07. The facility is closed weekends. Mr. Bernier stated that the spill was contained on the facility grounds but reached a retention pond that is located in the facility. He also stated that the facility is secured by a fence and is located in a industrial/commercial area of Taunton. There were no injuries reported.
