Program description:
The “Columbia Wildlife & Habitat Subcommittee” acts primarily as an advisory group to the Columbia Association’s Open Space Committee,
(see:http://www.columbiaassociation.com/inside_columbia/
col_governance/advisory_committees.htm), in Columbia Maryland:

Activities have historically included monthly meetings with Columbia Association staff, assisting in the management of non-mute swans from "Environmental Studies at Airlie," (see http://www.trumpeterswans.org/), local Lake clean ups, monitoring local wildlife, wildlife rescue assistance, community education at local fairs and festivals, as well as nature walks. CWHSC currently seeks to expand its membership and broaden its advisory capabilities especially in the area of supplying scientific data. Registration as an EPA Volunteer to monitor and assess local water quality is one of many efforts along these lines. Currently the "Columbia Council’s Wildlife & Habitat Committee" is seeking new members and volunteers for planned activities.

In terms of monitoring results: July, 2007 constitutes our launch Phase, and November 2007 is our preliminary targeted report date.

Thank you,
Lisa Mikkelsen
