BACKGROUND.

The CASAC Lead Review Panel will hold discussions concerning EPA's [ Proposed Rule for the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for Lead ] (released on May 1, 2008) and will provide its comments on this proposed rule to the EPA Administrator.

Section 109(d)(1) of the Clean Air Act (CAA) requires that the Agency periodically review and revise, as appropriate, the air quality criteria and NAAQS for the six "criteria" air pollutants, including ambient lead.
