Rachel has worked with the EPA- Research Triangle Park’s Environmental Education and STEM Outreach Program since August 2011. Prior to that, she spent 3 years in a swamp in Kitty Hawk, NC working on her master’s degree in plant biology from North Carolina State University. Rachel received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Beloit College, WI and was lucky enough to spend a semester abroad in Tanzania, where she developed her appreciation of giraffes. In between getting her degrees, she taught 7th grade science for 2 years in Franklin County, NC as part of the Teach for America program. Her favorite thing about teaching and outreach is sharing how cool science and the environment is with students and adults.
