Anthony B. DeAngelo, Ph.D.


Dr. DeAngelo has been senior scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency for 24 years. He is well known for his research on the carcinogenesis of chemicals (disinfection by-products) formed during the purification of drinking water. His current research focuses on developing short-term assays to identify disinfection by-products and other drinking water contaminants that might pose a cancer risk to exposed populations. He has presented many lectures and demonstrations to area students, as well as mentored high school seniors in his laboratory. Dr. DeAngelo has been the recipient of EPA’s Outstanding Scientist Award in Biological Sciences.
