Valley Wood Preserving, Inc.

The documents contained in this administrative record file were used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in identifying appropriate remedial activities for use at the Valley Wood Preserving Superfund site in Turlock, California. The administrative record file will be added to as documents become available. The latest supplement (#5) addresses a Proposed Plan for soil clean-up.
The administrative record contains documents in two media. Each document has been assigned a unique identification number. Documents AR 1 - AR 161 are on microfilm; documents AR 162 - AR 216, added subsequent to microfilming, are included in paper copy. Documents AR 1 - AR 108 (Original compilation) were made available to the public in May 1991. Documents AR 109- AR 160 (Supplements 1-3) were added to the file from December 1991 to August 1994. Document AR 156 was deemed inappropriate for the AR and was replaced by AR 161, the Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD), in December 1994 (Supplement 4).

For ease of use, the indexes for the Original Compilation & Supplements 1-5 have been combined to produce a cumulative index that is presented in two formats. The first format lists the documents in AR number order, which reflects the arrangement of the documents in the file. The second format lists the documents in ascending chronological order.

The lists of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidance documents which were considered or relied upon in the selection of the remedy are documents AR 108, AR 160, and AR 215 in this administrative record file. Copies of the guidance documents are contained in the Compendium of CERCLA Response Selection Guidance Documents located in the Region 9 Superfund Records Center.

The Proposed Plans are documents AR 113 and AR 214, the Record of Decision (ROD) is document AR 139, and the Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) is document AR 161.
