Storm Water:
Sectors of Industrial Activity
Covered by EPA's Multi-Sector General Permit
Below is a list of all industries required to obtain NPDES permit coverage under the MSGP-2000 for storm water discharges. Industries subject to storm water permitting are defined by their Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes, four-digit industry classification codes created in the 1970's by the federal Office of Management and Budget for economic statistical purposes. OMB recently adopted the North American Industry Classification System for collecting statistical economic data, however, EPA elected to retain the SIC code system as referenced in the storm water regulations at 40 CFR 122.26 (b) (14).
