Toxics Release Inventory (TRI)
Regional TRI Information
State TRI Programs
The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) is a national database that identifies facilities that manufacture, process or use toxic chemicals, the toxic chemicals that are manufactured and used at those facilities, and the annual releases and waste management activities associated with the toxic chemicals. The toxic chemical list for TRI includes over 650 individually listed chemicals and chemical categories.
Facilities that meet certain criteria are required to report by July 1 each year to the Toxics Release Inventory. TRI information must be reported to EPA and to the state in which a facility is located. EPA Region 10 works closely with reporting facilities in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington to provide training, outreach and assistance in completing TRI forms.
EPA is committed to making TRI data easy to access. TRI information can be accessed and analyzed using any of several online tools. Each year EPA publishes a national Public Data Release that summarizes and analyzes the previous year’s TRI data. Region 10 provides a similar data release with information about Region 10 reporting. EPA Region 10 also assists individuals, public interest groups, local & state government agencies, the media and others in acquiring and understanding TRI data.
