Recycling


Recycling is a series of activities that includes collecting recyclable materials that would otherwise be considered waste, sorting and processing recyclables into raw materials such as fibers, and manufacturing raw materials into new products.

Creative recycling project in Alaska wins President's Environmental Youth Award

A group of middle school students in Homer, Alaska, are this year’s first place winners of the EPA Region 10 President’s Environmental Youth Award. The students formed an “EcoLogical” group to reduce local waste when they learned their local landfill would be full by 2013. The group partnered with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and the Homer Middle School Site Council to reduce the weekly waste volume generated at Homer Middle School. National "Our Planet, Our Stuff, Our Choice" video contest winners include entry from Oregon

Congratulations to Tyler Polich of Eugene, Oregon, who won second place in EPA's national video competition to help raise awareness of the connection between the environment and the "stuff" people use, consume, recycle, and throw away.
