Section 717 of

of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (42 U.S. C. 2000e-16 and implementing regulations, 29 CFR Part 1614); Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, section 501 (Civil Service Reform Act of 1978, 5 U.S.C. 7201); Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (29 U.S.C. 621, et seq.), as amended; Executive Order 11478; Reorganization Plan No. 1 of 1978; and implementing

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) directives.

What is EPA's EEO policy? (top)

Consistent with Government policy, it is the policy of the EPA that all persons will be accorded equal opportunity in all employment matters. It is EPA's policy to:

recognize the equal opportunity program, including affirmative employment, as an essential element of EPA's mission;
provide equal employment opportunity for all employees and applicants for employment and prohibit unlawful discrimination against any individual in employment, training, and advancement because of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, or disability;
identify and eliminate barriers or practices that impede equal opportunity for all employees and applicants for employment, i.e., sexual harassment, intimidating work environments, and architectural and transportation barriers that would affect the employment and advancement of persons with disabilities;
provide for an administrative procedure through which allegations of employment discrimination may be raised and resolved at the lowest possible management level; and
require nondiscrimination on the bases of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, or reprisal in programs and activities receiving financial assistance from EPA.
