Cook Inlet Pipe Line Company’s Drift River Terminal Facility
The Cook Inlet Pipe Line Company’s (the Company’s) Drift River Terminal facility (AKD000641811) is located near Kenai, about 90 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. This facility has been used for temporary storage of crude oil for almost 40 years. In 1997, EPA issued an order to the Company to investigate three potentially contaminated Solid Waste Management Units at the Drift River Terminal. The Company found contamination at one of the sites and as a result in 2002 and 2003 removed petroleum-contaminated soil, treated or disposed of the soil, and restored groundwater to drinking water standards. EPA believes that no further action is necessary to address the environmental impacts at the Drift River Terminal.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites your comments on its proposal for no further cleanup action at the Cook Inlet Pipe Line Company’s (the Company’s) Drift River Terminal facility. Please see the Statement of Basis and related links below for further information.
