Velco Incorporated

The former Velco site (EPA RCRA Site ID #ORD 00941 4400) has been cleaned up. The Facility manufactured paint and putty at 3900 West First Avenue, Eugene, Oregon. Between 1969 and 1979, the Facility disposed of paint and solvent wastes in an onsite unlined pit (the paint trench). The paint trench was backfilled in 1979 and in 1984 a warehouse was built over a portion of the trench. In 1989, the property owners excavated most of the paint trench. Site contaminants include metals (mainly lead and chromium), toluene, xylene, benzene, and trichloroethylene.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and EPA are proposing a remedy selection and determination of “corrective action complete” under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Administrative Order on Consent 1087-04-020-3008 (Order).
