West Coast Forum on Climate Change, Waste Prevention, Recovery and Disposal

We are hosting a series of webinars (web-based training sessions) addressing the nexus between waste prevention, recycling, composting, materials management, disposal and climate change. Our goal is to bring together some of the best minds on the topic and help West Coast governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses and residents understand how prevention and recovery reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By bringing live web-based training to your desktop, webinars minimize the climate and environmental impacts associated with traditional conferences and training.

U.S. EPA West Coast Forum on Climate Change and Materials Management Webinars - Dec. 1-2, 2009
In September of 2008, government stakeholders from western states gathered to identify strategic actions to reduce climate change impacts through improvements to waste prevention, recovery and disposal. Since that time, Forum participants have focused their efforts on sharing information and developing resources in work groups targeting six key areas.
Our second Forum will bring work groups together with new and familiar stakeholders to share progress and to collectively determine goals and strategic action for the next year.
This FREE Webinar will consist of two primary components: identification of key findings and priorities in climate and materials management; and the role of consumption in climate change. Day 1 will provide an overview of new research, programs, and opportunities in climate, waste and materials management. Speakers will discuss the latest EPA findings on the climate impacts of materials management practices, as well as several new projects in place to deal with those impacts. Day 2’s webcast will focus on consumption and climate change.
This Webinar is held on the following dates:
Dec 1, 2009 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST

EPA Waste Reduction Model Webinar Part II
Thursday, July 9, 2009
This is the second webinar in a series designed to educate stakeholders on the proven capabilities of EPA’s Waste Reduction Model (WARM). While the first installment provided background for the WARM model, this second webinar will provide a user-driven exploration of its features, parameters and usefulness.
Presentations and Speakers
EPA Regions 1 and 2 conducted an initial webinar on tools and techniques for better materials management. This first installment provides a good background for part two of the webinar series, which will focus on the WARM model.
