The Columbia River Toxics Reduction Working Group hosted several watershed-based workshops to provide a forum to discuss strategies for reducing toxic contamination in the Basin and involve local watershed councils; communities; agriculture; industry; tribal, federal and state governments; and nonprofit organizations.
August 12, 2009 - Columbia River Toxics Reduction Watershed Workshop
Where: Chelan PUD, Wenatchee, WA
Together with the Spokane Tribe, Washington Departments of Ecology and Health, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Columbia Riverkeeper, and the Columbia River Toxics Reduction Working Group, EPA Region 10 hosted a one day workshop on toxic reduction.
Workshop goals:
- Exchange information on toxics reduction efforts in the Columbia River Basin;
- Exchange information with local watershed groups, municipalities, and others on toxics reduction work efforts and concerns.

Location: Port of Portland, Portland, OR
This one-day workshop focused on characterization of PCBs in the Lower Columbia and Willamette Rivers, monitoring efforts, and reduction activities.
