Description

Sporting Goods Properties, Inc. (SGP) owns the 419-acre "Lake Success Business Park" in Bridgeport, CT, which was formerly owned and operated by the Remington Arms Company. Remington used the property for production, testing, storage, and disposal of small and large caliber ammunition and powders and operated a hazardous waste lagoon as part of their wastewater treatment system. SGP has made considerable progress investigating and cleaning up contamination at the property under an EPA RCRA 3008(h) consent order. SGP holds periodic open-to-the-public Community Advisory Panel meetings in Bridgeport and publishes an annual newsletter to keep the public informed of their progress.

Current Status

SGP holds Community Advisory Panel meetings twice per year, typically in October and May. These meetings are open to the public and include a slide presentation on work completed at the Lake Success Business Park since the previous meeting and on work projected to occur over the upcoming months. Sometimes these meetings include discussion concerning redevelopment plans for the property.

SGP's Community Advisory Panel meetings for 2014 are scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 14, 2014 - 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Summerfield United Methodist Church at 110 Clermont Avenue in Bridgeport, CT. Please contact Pat Tober of SGP at 203/576-1829 if you are interested in attending.
