At approximately 0945 on 8 May 2008, the Emergency Planning and Response Branch Phone Duty Officer received a request from Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) to assist with air monitoring at an incident involving a burning box truck, which may have been carrying hazardous materials. Boston Fire had requested MassDEP assistance with air monitoring for this incident. MassDEP subsequently requested that EPA mobilize air monitoring resources in support of this effort. This incident occurred at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Brighton Avenue in Boston, MA.

EPA OSC Wainberg was dispatched to the incident along with six Superfund Technical Assistance and Response Team (START) members to provide air monitoring assistance.
