JOB TRAINING: The City of New Bedford, a Brownfields Showcase Community, partnered with New Directions and Bristol Community College on a EPA Brownfields Job Training pilot program. A 17-week Environmental Tech Aide program was offered twice each year. Thirty-nine participants completed the program over a two-year period. Prior to entering this program, many participants were unemployed, ‘welfare to work’, or otherwise disadvantaged. After completing the program, many are now employed full-time and earning living wages with full benefits.

ASSESSMENT: Sites assessed include Standard Times Field, Dawson Brewery, 20 Dartmouth Street & 280 North Street.
