Description
The City of Springfield has received the following EPA Brownfields funding:
Assessment Grant ($200,000 - HS) in 1998 & ($200,000 - HS) in 2000 - Closed Out
Assessment Grant ($200,000 - HS & $200,000 - Pet) in 2003
Assessment Grant ($200,000 - HS & $200,000 - Pet) in 2007
Cleanup Grant for the Gemini Building, 33 Morris Street ($200,000 - Pet) in 2005
Cleanup Grant for Hampden Color & Chemical, 126 Memorial Drive ($200,000 - HS) in 2005
Current Status
Springfield completed its inventory of Brownfields for the entire City and completed several preliminary Phase I assessments of the sites in the inventory owned by the City. The inventory was created based on criteria agreed upon by various City agencies. In order to complete the inventory, student interns needed to be trained to complete file reviews at DEP.
