Description
The five acre Light Metals Coloring facility is an aluminum finishing plant whose past operations included the on-site disposal of hazardous metal hydroxide sludge. While removal of sludge was conducted from the on-site surface impoundment, followed by capping and groundwater monitoring, additional environmental work is required.
Current Status
On September 17, 2004 the CTDEP approved a schedule for investigation and remediation of hazardous waste and hazardous substances at or from the facility. Also in September 2004, the EPA concurred with the facility's findings that Human Exposures are Controlled. In September 2006, the CTDEP concurred with the facility's finding that the Migration of Contaminated Groundwater is Under Control.
