Title:ZINC AS A PERSISTENT, BIOACCUMULATIVE, AND TOXIC (PBT) CHEMICAL
RCRA Online Number:14366
Date:09/08/1999
To:Hettleman
From:Cotsworth
Organization of Recipient:Southern Galvanizing Company
Description: Zinc was proposed as one of the 53 chemicals on the RCRA Persistent, Bioaccumulative, and Toxic (PBT) list. Comments on the proposed list suggest EPA should use bioavailability rather than persistence in evaluating metals, and that EPA should reevaluate the screening and ranking steps of the methodology. These comments will be considered before EPA finalizes the list by January 2000 (SEE ALSO: 63 FR 60332; 11/9/98; RPC# 7/14/99-02).
