PHILADELPHIA (Dec. 7, 2009) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, along with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, will hold a public meeting in Laurel, DE on Thursday, Dec. 10 to discuss the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) – a strict “pollution diet” to protect local waters and restore the Chesapeake Bay.
The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Laurel Senior High School, Auditorium, 1133 S. Central Ave, Laurel. Live computer access to the presentations and audio from the meeting will be available via webinar. A registration link for the Laurel webinar is available at www.epa.gov/chesapeakebaytmdl under Bay TMDL Public Meetings.
EPA is holding a series of public meetings on the Chesapeake Bay TMDL throughout the watershed’s six states and the District of Columbia from early November through mid-December 2009.
The Chesapeake Bay TMDL will establish and assign the pollution reductions necessary to meet clean water standards. The TMDL will be supported by performance and accountability features to ensure needed actions are taken.
