CHICAGO (April 12, 2007) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 and Illinois EPA will host a media briefing Tuesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. about a new Superfund cleanup at the former Southern Medical Center facility in Cairo, Ill.

The site, which opened in 1958 as St. Mary's Hospital, is at 2020 Cedar St.

Asbestos removal workers and construction equipment will be visible. Local officials are expected.

In the event of rain, the briefing will be held at Cairo City Hall, 1501 Washington Ave.
