MEDIA ADVISORY: EPA’S ANN ARBOR LAB HOSTS ECOCAR CHALLENGE RIDE AND DRIVE MARCH 14

Ann Arbor, Mich. (March 11, 2011) --- EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge will celebrate the culmination of nearly three years of innovative thinking from North America’s future automotive engineers on Monday, March 14 at the first “Green Ride & Drive” at the U.S. EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Mich. During the Ride & Drive, journalists can go for a spin in one of the competition’s student designed and built alternative powertrain EcoCAR vehicles. The event will also give journalists a forum to interact with many of the key stakeholders of the competition, including the masterminds behind the vehicles. Many types of vehicles will be featured, including plug-in hybrid electric, extended range electric, fuel cell plug-in hybrid electric and full function electric.

The EPA’s lab is hosting the Ride & Drive in conjunction with the competition’s Spring Workshop, during which sixteen student teams from across North America are spending two weeks at the lab refining and improving their fleet of next generation vehicles and learning from the lab's experts.
