EPA Regional Administrator to Speak on Global Climate Change

On Wednesday, November 19, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Regional Administrator Jerry Clifford will speak at the University of Texas-Pan American about EPA's perspective on global warming and climate change, its impact in the Central Southwest on public health and the environment, and strategies to reduce the anticipated effects. Clifford believes the presentation will be an excellent opportunity to communicate with a variety of concerned people representing business interests, government policymakers, students, the media, and the general public.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 2:00 P.M., at the Social and Behavioral Sciences Auditorium, The University of Texas-Pan American, 1201 West University Drive, Edinburg.
Before Clifford became Acting Regional Administrator for EPA Region 6 in June 1997, he served as Deputy Regional Administrator. He has a masters degree in environmental engineering from the University of Florida and has been with EPA since 1978. Region 6 includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
