|
|
FROM:

Alvin M. Pesachowitz -/S/-
Chief Information Officer |
|
TO:
|
Assistant Administrators
General Counsel
Inspector General
Chief Financial Officer
Associate Administrators
Regional Administrators
|
In an August 1997 memo, I asked the EPA community to follow a standard format for all EPA Web pages. Thanks to your actions, our Web site has a more uniform appearance which is making it easier for the public to access our information. The EPA Web site now handles more than 1.5 million requests per day. Since the Web site has become such an important medium for making our positions known and providing the public with the tools to become better environmental citizens, we must address the management challenges and opportunities of this new technology.
In keeping with the Administrator's emphasis on ensuring that our information is timely, accurate, integrated and useful to the public, I am instituting a requirement for greater management emphasis on the Web site. Effective immediately, the Office of Information Resources Management (OIRM) will require Office Director approval (or equivalent direct report to the RA in the regions) of all materials made available on the public access Web site.
For further assistance, your staff may contact Joseph Anderson, Office of Information Resources Management (202)260-3016 Jonda Byrd (byrd.jonda@epa.gov) at 513-569-7183.
cc: Mark Day, OIRM
