Project Title & Description
ARRA - NATIONAL CLEAN DIESEL PROGRAM
This cooperative agreement provides funding to the California Air Resources Board under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. This project will repower eight existing older switch (yard) locomotives with new Tier 3 nonroad engines, per each switch (yard) locomotive. These gen-set switch (yard) locomotives can reduce nitric oxide and particulate matter emissions by up to ninety percent which would result in a reduction of approximately 0.045 and 0.0018 tons per day of nitric oxide and particulate matter. This project will ensure the continued production of gen-set repower switching locomotives. This project will directly benefit the California Air Resources Board in achieving significant reductions in diesel emissions in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. This amendment hereby extends the budget and project period end dates to December 31, 2010. There is no change to the total approved federal amount of $8,888,888. All terms and conditions remain in full force and effect.
