Locomotive Idle Reduction Project
The project involves purchasing and installing EPA-verified locomotive idle reduction kits on 40 switcher locomotives. Kansas City Southern Railway (KCSR) proposes to install EPA verified automatic engine start-stop devices to 40 switch engines assigned to key locations in EPA in Region 6. The primary location is Shreveport, LA where the majority of the switchers are located. Switchers are also assigned to several other locations in the LA and TX area, which are briefly discussed in the proposal.
