Pointe Aux Peaux Wetland Restoration
This project supports the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, pursuant to Public Law 111-88. Specifically, this project will restore/enhance a 91-acre coastal wetland on Brest Bay on Lake Erie. The site vegetation is currently 90 percent invasive species. By removing old culverts and installing new water conveyance structures, hydrologic processes will be improved and native wetland vegetation will be restored. The project will improve physical, chemical and biological processes and ecosystem functions, and will help maintain or improve conditions for native fish and wildlife.
