Indian General Assistance Program
This proposal contains five primary objectives which are identified as program components. The first component is education and outreach on environmental issues that affect Tribal members. The second component is to continue our current air quality assessment. The third component is the Environmental Coordinator has been elected to sit on the Regional Tribal Operations Committee, the National Tribal Air Associations Executive Committee, Tribal Air Monitoring Support Center, Alaska Community Action of Toxics. ONC fully supports her position in representing the tribes within the State of Alaska because our efforts to continue on capacity building in other environmental arena's will benefit our departments goals to run a successful by bringing in issues and information to the tribes in Rural Alaska as well as the other R10 states. The fourth component is the Environmental Coordinator will be participating in the Kuskokwim River Watershed meeting's and will be passing the information gained to the council and the Community of Bethel. With the proposed mine underway, our tribe is concerned and has involved our Natural Resources and the Environmental Programs to be involved in the process of the Watershed. The fifth component is grant management and continued building of capacity to manage an environmental program.
