The project involves 5 community groups that represent various geographic regions of the Mystic River Watershed. Through interaction and training activities, the organizations will expose and train several youth leaders on watershed science and stormwater issues. During the term of the cooperative agreement, these students will work within their schools and communities to create school-based Mystic River environmental teams. The proposed grantee will host workshops/demonstrations for the environmental teams that focus on river assessment and stormwater. As a result of this program, team will work within their community to raise awareness about stormwater and river ecology as well as create a final project that will lead to larger understanding and interest in the river itself.
