Project Title & Description
This workshop will: 1) conduct an in-depth examination of the secular trend data on the onset and progression of puberty in girls and boys. The expert panel will aim to come to consensus on the topic given the current published peer-reviewed literature. 2) analyze the data on associations of environmental factors with puberty timing and progression in animals and human studies, and make recommendations for future research. 3) identify the implications of the expert panel conclusions on children'shealth risk assessment. For the purposes of this workshop, an environmental factor is defined as a nongenetic, endogenous or exogenous agent, including body fat, dietary components, endogenous hormones, and chemical exposures.
