This sub-project will futher the ongoing work of this existing grant for Total Maximum Daily Load Development (TMDL) capacity building in the State of Connecticut. The ecology of aquatic biota in rivers and streams downstream of the 4000 dams in Connecticut is impacted by multiple stressors. This project will increase the effectiveness of the State's Stressor Identification Program by increasing understanding of the relative importance stressors downstream of the dams. Stressor identification is key to justifying the technical bases for certain TMDLs. This research project will strengthen the scientific basis of future TMDL development decisions in Connecticut. The result of the project will increase the capacity for TMDL submissions and improve the quality of the State's plans for implementation of these TMDLs.
