Project Title & Description
Water Quality Management Planning
In Alaska 205j grant funds are used to make the State's regulations and guidelines for water quality standards understandable, reasonable, scientifically defensible and accepted by the public and industry as being protective of designated uses. During the past triennial review (FY04-07) several of the Water Quality Standards were revised. A few of these will carryover to SFY09 including mixing zones, residues, and natural conditions. In FY08 a new Triennial Review of the Water Quality Standards began as required by the Clean Water Act. The Department identified five priority topics for review and potentially revision during this Triennial Review (FY07-10) and other WQS on-going project. The 205(j) grant is also used to support other projects involving water quality standards revisions, guidance development or other related issues.
