Project Title & Description
Performance Partnership Grant for: CWA Section 319, 66-460 CWA Section 106, 66-419
With the Performance Partnership Grant, the tribe proposes to wrap together the Tribe's Clean Water Act Section 106 and 319 grants. They intend to continue the Sense of Place series of outreach classes designed to foster responsible stewardship of local landowners. Additionally, they will continue stabilization work on shorelines of the Kalispel Indian Reservation that are actively eroding due to anthropogenic causes. Funds secured from the Section 106 grant will assist the Kalispel Natural Resource Department in meeting a major Watershed/Water Quality Management Plan objective to “Maintain or enhance water quality in rivers, streams, lakes and other waterbodies throughout ceded lands.” (KNRD Fish and Wildlife Management Plan, 1997) This will be accomplished through the implementation of a water quality/watershed management plan and sampling water quality in the lower Pend Oreille watershed.
