Project Title & Description
COLLECTIONS OF UNWANTED HOUSEHOLD ELECTRONICS AND MEDICINES
This grant agreement between The Macomb County Health Department's Environmental Health Division and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-Great Lakes National Program Office seeks to divert lead, mercury, contaminants from computer components and traditional landfill disposal, controlled and non-controlled medications from flushing into our waterways.
The Macomb County Health Department has a long history of implementing innovative environmental programs, which prioritize water quality issues. As part of the Macomb County existing household hazardous waste program (HHW), computer related and medication wastes will be collected in addition to traditional toxic waste generated by households (i.e. pesticides, pool chemicals, poisons, paints, solvents etc.).
