Project Title & Description
Water Quality Management Planning
Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP), through a contract with the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and a subcontract with United States Geological Survey (USGS), will fund the development of regression equations using low-flow statistics for continuous-record gaging stations and low-flow partial record stations in CT. The updated low-flow statistics, which were generated under the FY 05 604(b) grant, will be used by CT DEP to develop Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) estimates, evaluate water-supply potentials, and to determine wastewater discharges to rivers and streams. The new statistics will ensure that TMDL load calculations and discharge permits are based on the most accurate information available. In addition, funds will be used for aquifer protection planning activities involving water quality standards, land use regulations, and outreach.
