Project Title & Description
Congressionally Mandated Projects
This action approves an award in the amount of $525,600 to the City of Cleveland, Tennessee to construct a stormwater detention pond along an unnamed tributary of Woolen Mill Branch drainage basin, a highly impacted stream due to urban runoff which flows through a very industrialized section of Cleveland, Tennessee. The project includes the construction of a 5.25-acre grassed detention pond, the installation of 129 linear feet of 15-inch reinforced concrete discharge pipe and a concrete box culvert emergency overflow. The proposed stormwater detention pond is designed for drainage from 160 acres and will prevent flooding of residences and businesses in a historically low-income area of downtown Cleveland. The project is located in the Hiwassee watershed, Hydrologic Unit Code 06020002. A Categorical Exclusion Determination was issued by the Environmental Protection Agency on December 30, 2010.
