GA Municipal Sludge & Agr. Animal Waste Lagoon Renovation Project
New Award. This action approves an award in the amount of $397,600 to study and teach an alternative method of sludge handling and proper disposal for small municipal wastewater treatment lagoons and animal waste lagoons. The method consists of pumping sludge onsite into large semi-permeable bladders known as "geotubes" which slowly dewater the sludge under moderate pressure. The sludge is then allowed to dry in these membranes, then is properly disposed. Small system wastewater operators, managers, and town officials will be taught this method and see it in action at several participating sites in rural Georgia.
