FOREST COUNTY POTAWATOMI COMMUNITY - GAP
The Indian Environmental General Assistance Program Act of 1992 (42 U.S.C. 4368b) establishes an Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) that provides grants to eligible tribal government's or inter-tribal consortia to cover the cost of planning, developing and establishing tribal environmental protection programs consistent with other applicable provisions of law providing for enforcement of such laws by Indian tribes on Indian land. The GAP funds will be expended for the purpose of planning, developing and establishing a tribes capacity to implement programs administered by USEPA and specified in the assistance agreement. Purposes and programs authorized under the Act include the development and implementation of solid and hazardous waste programs for Indian lands.
