Inside the Greenhouse

Inside the Greenhouse is issued four times a year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s State and Local Capacity Building Branch. The purpose is to share news of innovative state and local programs to address climate change and clean air goals.

Current Issue: Summer 2002

• School Kids Show the Way to Lower Waste and Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  Children at an elementary school in California reduced the amount of waste that the school sent to the landfill by 90 percent.
• The Promise of Distributed Generation to Reduce Greenhouse Gases
  Small modular power plants can provide reliable electricity, heating, and hot water to individual buildings with low emissions of greenhouse gases and conventional pollutants.
• International City to City Twinning on Climate Change
  A new program by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) helps cities from different countries share expertise and resources to advance local government action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
• Tuning in to Climate Change
  New Hampshire's Mount Washington Observatory airs a nationally syndicated radio series on global climate change.
