Case Studies

Back
State and Local Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Case Studies

These state and local government examples demonstrate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of a variety of methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Each case study features a description of the project and, if available, quantitative results in terms of emissions reductions, energy savings, and costs. The case studies also identify individuals involved in managing and implementing the projects, and provide contacts for additional information.

Case Studies on Landfill Gas Utilization
Provided by EPA's
Landfill Methane Outreach Program, these case studies detail how industry, energy marketers, states, and communities successfully implemented projects that reduced greenhouse gas emissions associated with landfills. They include project descriptions, benefits, lessons learned and contact information.

Additional Sources for Case Studies

ACE3 Exit EPA (American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy) presents a number of case studies of projects that have combined energy efficiency measures with pollution prevention strategies within industry.

CREST Exit EPA (Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology) documents state and local government activities that have resulted in reducing or preventing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency or renewable energy technologies, better municipal planning, and progressive sustainable energy and resource practices.

DSIRE Exit EPA (Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy) displays the results of a survey of state financial incentives, programs, and regulatory policies designed to promote renewable energy technologies.
