This free one day workshop will focus on reducing methane emissions from the natural gas production sector. Participants will engage in a peer-based exchange of technical and economic information on practices currently in use today. Presentations will include detailed information that participants can use to conduct feasibility assessments of these practices at their operations.

8:30 am – 9:00 amEPA Natural Gas STAR Program - An overview of the Natural Gas STAR Program, its successes to date and details on how to access its benefits.
     
9:00 am – 9:30 amMethane Savings from Compressors - This presentation outlines the technical and economic decision making process for replacing worn compressors components, which cause natural gas losses, and describes the potential operational benefits, reduced methane emissions, and cost savings achieved.
     
9:30 am – 10:00 amReduced Emissions Completions - This presentation will cover reduced emissions techniques that remove sand, cuttings, and liquids during a completion to recover gas that is normally vented to the atmosphere.

10:15 am – 10:45 amNew Mexico Strategies for Reducing GHG Emissions - This discussion focuses on progress on the Oil & Gas Emissions Reduction study that is underway in NM. NM is developing rules to regulate GHG emissions, which includes the oil and gas industry for which methane will be a principal target for emissions reduction.
     
10:45 am – 11:15 amDirected Inspection and Maintenance (DI&M) and Infrared Leak Detection - A detailed review of implementing a DI&M program at production facilities to detect, measure, prioritize and repair leaks to reduce methane emissions. Emphasis will be placed on using optical imaging to aid in leak detection.      
11:15 am - 11:45 amProducer Best Management Practices (VRU/Smart Automation) - This presentation will cover several cost-effective methane reduction opportunities, including installing vapor recovery units on crude oil and condensate storage tanks and using smart automation systems on natural gas wells with plunger lifts. Details of the implementation decision process, cost and benefit information, and practical implementation tips will be provided.

12:30 pm - 1:15 pm Natural Gas Dehydration - This presentation provides an overview of methane emissions and reduction opportunities for producers during natural gas dehydration. The presentation will include discussion of both glycol dehydrators as well as desiccant dehydrators.
     
1:15 pm - 1:45 pm Emissions Management of Ancillary Equipment - EnCana will discuss their experience in reducing emissions from ancillary equipment.

2:30 pm - 5:00 pmNew Onshore Rig Technology/Production Facility Tour
Rulison Gas Field, Williams Production RMT Co. - Visit the FlexRig4s, a state of the art drill rig – the most advanced rig on shore today!  The goal is to demonstrate a “green completion” if possible.  Transportation will depart directly from the workshop at Hotel Colorado and return by 6 pm.  Please wear closed toe, hard top shoes if you plan to attend.
