This free one day workshop will focus on reducing methane emissions from the natural gas production sector. Participants will engage in a peer-based exchange of technical and economic information on practices currently in use today. Presentations will include detailed information that participants can use to conduct feasibility assessments of these practices at their operations.

8:45 am – 9:00 amEPA Natural Gas STAR Program - An overview of the Natural Gas STAR Program, its successes to date and details on how to access its benefits.
     
9:00 am – 9:30 amConocoPhillips Experience in Methane Emission Mitigation - ConocoPhillips will discuss their approach and experience in implementing cost effective methane emissions reduction technologoes and offer insight for obtaining operational and managerial support for these efforts.
     
9:30 am – 10:15 amDirected Inspection and Maintenance (DI&M) and IR Leak Detection - A detailed review of implementing a DI&M program at production facilities to detect, measure, prioritize and repair leaks to reduce methane emissions. Emphasis will be placed on using optical imaging technology to aid in leak detection.

10:45 am – 11:15 amMethane Savings from Compressors - Natural gas losses can occur from several specific compressor related components. This presentation outlines the technical and economic decision making process behind replacing worn rod packing rings, rods and seals.
     
11:15 am – 12:30 pmReduced Emissions Completions - BP and Weatherford will discuss reduced emissions techniques that remove sand, cuttings, and liquids during a completion to recover gas that is normally vented to the atmosphere.

1:30 pm - 2:15 pmProducer Best Management Practices and Opportunities - This presentation covers several cost-effective methane emission reduction opportunites, including plunger lifts, smart automation well venting, and vapor recovery units. A detailed step-by-step decision process for their implementation, cost and benefit information, and practical implementation tips and resources for further information are provided.
     
2:15 pm - 3:00 pmNatural Gas Dehydration - This presentation provides an overview of methane emissions and reduction opportunities for producers during natural gas dehydration. The presentation will include discussion of both glycol dehydrators as well as desiccant dehydrators.
