CARE - International District Housing Alliance (IDHA)

Printer-friendly version

The purpose of this project is to form a coalition to identify and prioritize toxics risks from multiple sources in the community and to build long-term community capacity to strategically address the issues.

There have been long-standing concerns about the environmental quality in the International District, some of which have been identified through previous efforts to gather data on toxic exposures. This project will allow the community to identify additional toxics (filling in the gaps) and prioritize their issues, and ensure that there is a follow-through and remediation by the collaborators. We will gather information on the major environmental concerns in the International District and will share the community's priorities with government agencies. Based on what services the community members want and the best way to deliver the services, IDHA will facilitate community meetings to provide the resources. IDHA is committed to building community capacity in addressing environmental issues, and the agencies are committed to addressing the issues.
