This is a nonprofit grant program to aid local school districts replacing their aging, diesel school bus fleets with new "clean fuel" buses. Goals include:
-Organize program logistics and identify stakeholders and program partnerships (i.e., with Dallas Area Rapid Transit, etc., for alternative fuel infrastructure facilities).
-Determine school districts to be addressed this year and for future years.
-Generate donations for use in program.
-Purchase initial fleet(s), build initial alternative fuel infrastructure(s), and/or purchase and install retrofit equipment in several DFW school districts with the oldest school bus populations.
A monitoring program would be established to evaluate air quality in dirty versus clean buses. EPA/Texas would sponsor a conference after the successful implementation of such a program to share experiences with nonattainment and other near nonattainment cities in Texas. |
