Printer-friendly version

U.S. EPA, Regions 3, 4 and 5 and the States of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia are currently involved in a joint multi-media Geographic Initiative, of a six-county, 2,300 square mile area. The overall goal of the Initiative is to identify and reduce high risk stressors that cause unacceptable risks to human health and the environment in order to enhance the communities' quality of life. The first phase of the study has been completed (the Kenova Industrial Cluster). A second phase (the Greenup Industrial Cluster) is currently in progress. This abstract summarizes the results of the Kenova monitoring and modeling studies.
