State Climate Action Plans Database


This searchable database contains policy recommendations from the action plans of 21 states. Policies are classified according to the following hierarchy, from most general to most specific: sector, category, and policy. To view policies that each state recommends, organized by 8 economic sectors — Agriculture and Forestry, Commercial, Cross-Sectoral Climate Change Initiatives or Programs, Industrial, Power Generation, Residential, Transportation, and Waste — click on a state on the map below.

Alternatively, visit the Searchable Matrix of State Action Plan Recommendations to find out how many policies states recommend for each economic sector and the types of policies recommended. For example, clicking on “Transportation” at the top of the matrix will bring you to another matrix that further categorizes the policies into topics such as Alternative Fuel Vehicles, Pricing Strategies, and Public Transportation. Clicking on any one of those topics will provide even more detail. Green numbered circles indicate the number of policies that each state recommends for that specific category and clicking on those circles will lead you to specific state policies.
